Lumeta Announces Interoperability Partnership with Juniper Networks

IPsonar® Network Leak Detection Now Interoperable with Juniper Networks Unified Access Control

Lumeta Corporation, the leading provider of network discovery solutions for enterprise and government agencies, today announced interoperability of its IPsonar with Juniper Networks Unified Access Control (UAC). Juniper's UAC is a standards-based Network Access Control (NAC) solution that reduces threat exposure and mitigates risks to secure enterprise IT networks while providing comprehensive network control, visibility and monitoring.

Lumeta's IPsonar actively scans the network to provide IT and security managers with an accurate visualization of the critical components of their networks, including leaks, or devices with unauthorized inbound or outbound connectivity to the Internet or sub-networks, to ensure that defenses are aligned with policy.  Network and security managers and executives use this data to accurately visualize what's on the network, drilling down to analyze potential areas of risk.

The joint solution provides a link between IPsonar's leak discovery capability and UAC appliances, which will then take appropriate action to reduce the threat exposure and mitigate risk.  Leak discovery is a key component in the UAC, which is the industry's first NAC solution to offer full Layer 2 through Layer 7 enforcement capabilities and reduces the cost and complexity of implementing granular NAC from the branch to the corporate data center. It also addresses challenges such as insider threats, guest access, outsourcing and off-shoring, and regulatory compliance.

“In a UAC environment, it's critical for leak discovery to occur,” said Lumeta's Chief Operating Officer, Michael Markulec. “IPsonar combined with Juniper's UAC is proven and working, allowing organizations to mitigate risks presented by devices that have unmanaged inbound or outbound connections.  Those implementing NAC now have the ability to incorporate best practices for post admission checking into their overall IT security measures.”

Juniper's UAC is a significant part of the company's Adaptive Threat Management Solutions, to deliver comprehensive and consistent security that utilizes both identity and application elements to provide unparalleled security and consistent application delivery across the distributed enterprise — including data center, campus, branch, remote and partner/extranet locations. Juniper's Adaptive Threat Management Solutions help close the vulnerability gap between what companies have deployed on their networks and the measures necessary to ensure that business-critical applications can be efficiently delivered at scale, regardless of location.

“Juniper very carefully considers our potential technology partners, and Lumeta met stringent requirements in order to be interoperable with our UAC solution,” said Steve Hanna distinguished engineer at Juniper Networks. “IPsonar provides us a key component - proven leak detection technology – allowing us to extend to marketplace the most advanced UAC solution available today so that organizations can reduce threat exposure and mitigate risks represented by network leaks.”
